The brief

Estate planning in Nigeria has historically meant paper documents, lawyers’ offices, and uncertainty about whether the will would actually be found when needed. bWills’ mission was to take this entire workflow online — securely, with the gravity it deserves.

What we built

  • User account & dashboard — guided will creation, document repository, beneficiary registration.
  • Document upload & vault — encrypted storage for wills, certificates, and supporting documents.
  • Tiered pricing — free starter, individual, and family/legacy tiers with clear feature differentiation.
  • Admin panel — case management, document review, customer support tools.
  • Notification flows — annual review reminders, beneficiary access protocols.

How we built it

Documents are encrypted at rest with per-user keys derived at access time — even an admin viewing a record sees only metadata until explicitly authorised. The storage backend is decoupled so the vault can move from local to cloud without changing application code.

The pricing engine is data-driven so adding new tiers or promotions is a config change, not a deploy.

Outcome

A working legal-tech product addressing a market that hasn’t been digitised — with security architecture that takes seriously the sensitivity of what’s being stored.
